荒涼的郊野多腐草，
舊日的林苑已接近清秋。
荊棘叢密，怎能數得清？
囊袋輕小，無法盡收螢火。
月兒高懸，疑心炬火已熄，
天空遙遠，認作流星在飛。
紫桂樹間微風漸急，
紅蘭草上露水遍浮。
螢光已能穿過深長的巷子，
更想要拂過高高的樓閣。
熄滅燭火後正無法入睡，
鳴叫的蟋蟀更添愁緒。

The wilds abound with rotting grass,
The old garden nears the clear autumn.
How can one count the dense brambles?
The light pouch cannot hold them all.
The moon high, I doubt the torch-fire dies;
The sky far, I deem the stars are flowing.
Purple cassia winds hasten slightly;
Red orchids' dew floats everywhere.
Already they pierce the long lane,
And further wish to brush the tall tower.
Extinguishing the candle, sleepless still,
Chirping crickets recommend their sorrow.
