頭戴朱紅冠，腳有金色距，一身彩羽的軀體，
天剛破曉，它嘹亮的高鳴已報告清晨來臨。
作爲祥瑞，莫要慚愧曾先被進貢給楚國，
稱雄斗場，須相信唯獨秦國可被推崇。
在淮南，它也陪伴過升仙之犬一同飛升，
在函谷關，它曾容忍借曉之人過關通行。
今日它卑棲於此，隨緣飲水啄食，
主人驅使我，我也變得溫順相從。

With crimson comb and golden spurs, a body clad in colored plume,
At break of dawn, its clarion call already heralds morning's light.
As auspicious sign, feel no shame for first being tribute to Chu's room,
In mastery of the field, believe Qin alone claims the height.
In Huainan, it accompanied the immortal-hound's ascent,
At Hangu Pass, it once allowed the borrowed-dawn man his flight.
This day, humble it roosts, following its drink and peck intent,
The master drives me, yet I too grow tame and yield my might.
