白話文翻譯
老虎潛伏在草木叢中，
樵夫遠遠避開，不敢動用斧斤。
寧願忍受骨肉至親的飢餓，
也不願冒被虎爪利牙傷害的風險。
山中的聚居地日漸消散，
十戶人家有九戶緊閉門戶。
形影孤單，只能自我哀憐，
祈求神靈為他們驅除災禍。
野獸的毒害尚且可以逃避，
急迫的征斂卻耗盡了所有的食器與炊具。

The woodman keeps his axe and blade afar.

Than tread the danger of its claws and fangs.

Praying to gods to drive the scourge away.
The beast's poison one still may flee,
