一場雨連續下了三個月，
到了秋天卻異常乾旱晴朗。
不知道蒼天究竟是何心意，
怎麼忍心耽誤百姓的生計。
河流枯竭，沒有一絲雲彩升起，
山間清涼，只有明月照耀。
爲時局憂慮，心幾乎要碎裂，
徒然聽著海鱔的鳴叫聲。

Yet autumn brings a parching, rainless sky.
What intent does Heaven hold, I cannot comprehend,
How can it bear to let the people's livelihood go awry?
Rivers run dry, no clouds arise in the vast expanse,

My heart, burdened with worry for these times, is almost torn,
In vain, I listen to the sea-serpent's cry, forlorn.
