我推遲回到江南水鄉已有二十年，
十年間兩次將船系在峽江邊。
我的身體如同梅子，經歷了半晴半雨，
小路深入柳絮之中，彼此前後相隨。
在或短或長的土堡旁，春天拴著馬匹；
大江南北的夜晚，都能聽到杜鵑的啼鳴。
人生到了年老時，空自感到毫無用處，
寄語年輕人們：要及早策馬奮進。

Twenty years I've delayed returning to the river country,
Twice in ten years my boat has been moored by the gorge's stream.
My body, like a plum, knows both sunshine and rain,
The path winds through willow catkins, some ahead, some behind.
At short or long posts, spring tethers the horses;
South and north of the river, night hears the cuckoo's cry.
In life, growing old is vain and useless—
A message to the young: take up the whip early.
