絕壑參差半倚天，據鞍環顧一悽然。

jué hè cēn cī bàn yǐ tiān， jù ān huán gù yī qī rán。

ㄐㄩㄝˊ ㄏㄜˋ ㄘㄣㄘㄅㄢˋ ㄧˇ ㄊㄧㄢ，ㄐㄩˋ ㄢㄏㄨㄢˊ ㄍㄨˋ ㄧㄑㄧㄖㄢˊ。

亂山不復知南北，惟記長安白日邊。

luàn shān bù fù zhī nán běi， wéi jì cháng ān bái rì biān。

ㄌㄨㄢˋ ㄕㄢㄅㄨˋ ㄈㄨˋ ㄓㄋㄢˊ ㄅㄟˇ，ㄨㄟˊ ㄐㄧˋ ㄔㄤˊ ㄢㄅㄞˊ ㄖˋ ㄅㄧㄢ。

陡峭的溝壑參差不齊，仿佛半倚著天空，

我坐在馬鞍上環顧四周，心中一片悽然。

在雜亂的山巒中，再也分不清南北方向，

只記得長安城，就在那白日的邊際。

The sheer chasms, jagged and uneven, half lean against the sky,

Saddled, I look around in all directions, filled with sorrow.

Amidst the chaotic peaks, I lose all sense of north and south,

Yet I remember only Chang'an, there where the white sun lies.

劉敞（1019年－1068年），字原父，世稱公是先生，臨江軍新喻（今江西新余）人。北宋著名經學家、史學家、金石學家與文學家。他於宋仁宗慶曆六年（1046年）中進士，歷任知制誥、集賢院學士等職，在經學、史學及金石學領域成就卓著，尤以博聞強識、敢於疑古而聞名，其文學創作亦具深厚學養。
