漫長的夏季，炎熱的空氣升騰瀰漫，
高處的田地遭受著猛烈的焚燒。
可惜啊，淮河與大海地勢低洼，
沒有力量能澆滅這焦灼的乾旱。
起身環顧郊野之間，
草木稀疏，儘是枯萎的蒿艾。
日暮時分常颳起狂風，
飛揚的塵土遮蔽了北斗星的光芒。
誰能喚起深潛的蛟龍，
降下雷雨，復甦沉睡的禾苗？
我獨自靜坐，思緒渺然，
幽深的愁緒更增添了煩悶與燥熱。

In long summer, the fiery air swells high,
The high fields suffer fierce, consuming blaze.
Alas, the Huai and seas lie low and dry,
No power to quench the scorching, parched malaise.
I rise and gaze across the fields and plain,
All withered plants and weeds in disarray.
From dusk till dawn, wild winds sweep in again,
And flying dust obscures the Dipper's ray.
Who can arouse the dragon from its deep,
To bring forth thunder-rain and wake the grain?
In solitude, my silent thoughts I keep,
A deepening gloom augments my restless pain.
