紅雲與烈日仿佛在煎煮著清澈的波瀾，使之乾涸，
乾涸的蚌殼和枯死的魚兒讓人不忍心去看。
佛陀和老子曾因滄海桑田的變遷而發表言論，
詩人們也曾賦詩描寫洞庭湖乾涸的景象。
擺渡的船夫憂愁著無法歸去，
掌管雷鼓的官員沉睡難醒。
莫要空談天仙掌管著下方土地，
那祈求的綠章已多少次呈祝於星壇之前。

I cannot bear to see the parched mussels and fish die.
Buddha and Laozi spoke of oceans turning to dust,
Poets once wrote of Dongting Lake's drought in their verse.
The boatman, troubled, worries he cannot go home,
The thunder god, asleep on his drum, is hard to rouse from his dome.
In vain we say immortals govern the world below,
How many green petitions have we sent to the starry altar's glow?
