蘇武在沙漠之外，
公羊生乳的事情怎麼樣了？
幸賴有云中的大雁，
能夠傳遞系在腳上的書信。
它銜著蘆草飛入皇家苑囿，
繫著的帛書來自匈奴的穹廬。
傳說那裡的土地荒涼寒冷到了極點，
人們說他年老多病，僅存餘生。
史官們徒然誇耀“黃耳傳書”的典故，
詩人也不要歌詠“呼兒烹鯉魚”的詩句了。
青鳥是仙家的信使，
我如今更加相信它了。

In desert vast, the envoy, what's his plight?
Did the ram bear milk under the harsh light?
Fortunately, a wild goose from the cloud,
Could bear a letter on its leg, aloud.
Carrying reed, it came to the royal ground,
With silk attached, from the felt tent it was found.
The land is said to be desolate and cold,
The man reported old and ill, and bold.
Historians but boast of asking the hound,
Poets, refrain from singing of fish cooked round.
The bluebird, messenger of the divine,
Now makes me trust its legend more, a sign.
