詩歌內容

得志萬罪消，失志百醜生。

dé zhì wàn zuì xiāo， shī zhì bǎi chǒu shēng。

ㄉㄜˊ ㄓˋ ㄨㄢˋ ㄗㄨㄟˋ ㄒㄧㄠ，ㄕㄓˋ ㄅㄞˇ ㄔㄡˇ ㄕㄥ。

誰雲王路寬，枯槁不敢行。

shuí yún wáng lù kuān， kū gǎo bù gǎn xíng。

ㄕㄨㄟˊ ㄩㄣˊ ㄨㄤˊ ㄌㄨˋ ㄎㄨㄢ，ㄎㄨㄍㄠˇ ㄅㄨˋ ㄍㄢˇ ㄒㄧㄥˊ。

出言到口角，縮舌悔恨並。

chū yán dào kǒu jiǎo， suō shé huǐ hèn bìng。

自省由若此，況乃蚩蚩氓。

zì xǐng yóu ruò cǐ， kuàng nǎi chī chī méng。

故知當今賢，未有非簪纓。

gù zhī dāng jīn xián， wèi yǒu fēi zān yīng。

白話文翻譯

一旦得志，萬般罪過都會消散；

一旦失意，百種醜態便會滋生。

誰說君王之路寬闊坦蕩？

形容枯槁之人不敢在上面行走。

話到了嘴邊，

又縮回舌頭，悔恨一併湧來。

自我反省尚且如此，

更何況那些懵懂無知的百姓呢？

因此可知當今的賢能之士，

沒有不是身居官位、頭戴冠纓的。

Success washes away a myriad faults;

Failure breeds a hundred forms of disgrace.

Who says the royal road is broad and free?

The withered dare not tread that open space.

Words rise but halt upon the trembling lip,

The tongue draws back, regret and shame take hold.

If self-reflection brings me to this state,

How much more so the common folk, untold?

Thus know that in our present age, the wise

Are none but those who wear the cap and band.
