郊野平原上，百草都已枯萎凋零。
樵夫背負著柴薪從山間林木下走出，
轉運糧草的戍邊士卒正踏上歸程。
原野空曠，牛羊在遠處遊蕩，
打穀場荒蕪，鳥雀也稀少難尋。
南山歷經了整月的雨水沖刷，
卻仍有紛亂的雲朵在空中飛馳。

The wind and dew have turned bleak and chill,
On the plains, all grasses wither and fade.
Beneath the mountain woods, woodcutters descend with their load,
By the garrison, grain porters return along the road.
Vast and wild, sheep and cattle roam afar,
Deserted threshing grounds, few birds or sparrows are.
Over Southern Hills, the rain has poured for a moon's span,
Yet still, disorderly clouds scud and race as they can.
