木芙蓉的花蕊還未經歷寒霜，
籬笆旁的菊花尚且含苞未放。
正是在冷清寂寥中才綻放出豔麗色彩，
在不經意的地方猛然聞到撲鼻花香。
它釀成了雲壑間清澄的氣息，
滌盡了炎熱之地令人煩悶的心腸。
我便想在枝頭搭建巢穴居住，
效仿那位愛花成狂的徐老先生。

The hibiscus buds have not yet felt the frost's sting,
By the fence, the yellow chrysanthemums still keep their blooms within.
Amidst the desolation, they just begin to show their brilliant hue,
Where I least expect it, a sudden, fierce fragrance drifts through.
They distill the clear breath of cloud-filled valleys deep,
And cleanse the fevered, troubled guts of southern climes from heat.
I long to build a nest upon their branches and there dwell,
Learning from Old Xu, in his mad love for flowers, to excel.
