牙齒脫落，生機所剩無幾。
寒來暑往，已近八十個春秋；
咀嚼品味，歲月流逝已久。
請您看看那磨損的鐘鈕，
人的血氣豈能長久旺盛？
我的先祖初入仕途之時，
僅有兩顆門牙尚且留存。
這位老者並不冒犯他人，
卻反被他人所譏諷索取。
韓退之性情太過倔強，
曾自誇有鯨魚膾的手藝。
最終又能怎麼樣呢？
人生實在難以承受衰老之苦。

When my forefather first embarked on his career,
He had but two front teeth, and yet he knew no fear.
