桑木弓和蓬草箭是男兒的象徵，
離開故鄉的松樹和楸樹也讓人倍感沉重。
我知道自己建造的房屋只有牆壁立著，
誰又敢羨慕那華美高飛的翬鳥呢？
妻子兒女都笑話桑麻地狹窄，
堂屋簷宇低矮，燕子麻雀也稀少。
在這清平時代，我微薄的才能有何用處？
謀求田地、詢問房舍，想來也不應算錯。

Mulberry bow and arrowweed arrows mark a true man's birth,
To leave the pines and catalpas of his homeland is a heavy burden on earth.
I know my house stands bare, with only walls to call its own,
Who would dare envy the splendid flight of the phoenix, so finely grown?
My wife and children laugh at the narrow mulberry and hemp field,
Under the low eaves of my hall, swallows and sparrows are few to yield.
In this clear age, what use is my meager talent, I confess?
To seek land and inquire about a house should not be deemed a fault, I guess.
