一片平坦的荒原上，矗立著百尺高樓，
欄杆橫亘，點綴著清朗的秋色。
三年來，與燕鴻的書信往來已經斷絕，
我的心追隨千里的桂水漂流。
空對著霜中的蘆葦，驚覺遠別的悵惘，
怎忍心在雲朵般的葉上題寫寄送牢愁？
不見黑色的駿馬，西邊的落日卻已迫近，
目眩神迷，在天涯處，收起了片席孤舟。

The balustrade cuts across, dotting the clear autumn sky.
For three years, no word with the wild geese has come or gone,
My heart travels a thousand miles with the cassia stream on.

How could I bear to write on cloud-like leaves to send my deep sorrowing?
No black steed in sight, the western dusk is pressing near,
My eyes blur, at the world's edge, a single mat I steer.
