天道幽渺難以憑信，
人們的傳言尤其荒誕不經。
將七夕傳為佳期，
這歡事實則玷汙了雙星（牛郎織女）。
少女痴傻地以蛛網佔巧，
男兒愚鈍地託付心願於鵲橋。
我的詩並非喜好詆譭，
只是姑且用來訂正那頑冥的習俗。

The ways of Heaven are dark and hard to rely upon,
People's tales are especially unfounded.
They proclaim the seventh night as a time of bliss,
A joyful event that sullies the two stars (the Weaver and the Cowherd).
The silly girl divines skill by watching spiders,
The foolish boy entrusts his wish to the magpie's magic.
My poem is not fond of slander,
But merely seeks to correct such stubborn ignorance.
