這裡既不是尋常的里巷，也不是普通的村落。
歸隱到這柴桑般的居所，人已自然衰老。
即使松菊小徑已經荒蕪，舊時的路徑依然存在。
個人的際遇關乎時運與天命，與才華又有何干係？
我的才能僅限於文章之道，真正的'道'並未得到尊崇。
半生燈火下的苦讀，究竟能有什麼用處？
我只願教導我的孫兒去放牧那頭黃牛犢。

This is no common alley, nor a village of yore.
Returning to my rustic home, I find myself old.
Though overgrown, the path by pines and chrysanthemums still holds.

What use is a lifetime's toil by lamplight, in the end?
