彭祖長壽與顏回早逝、盜蹠長壽並不相同，
秋天的凋零與春天的繁盛各有其時節。
共同種下的花卻開出紅色與白色；
同一根樹木上也有枯死與新生的枝條。
悲哀與欣喜自然是人情的差異，
天賦的稟性難道不是造物主的私意嗎？
卻笑莊子未能明白這個道理，
費盡言辭去編排‘齊物’之論。

Peng and Yan, the short-lived and the long, are not the same;
Autumn's withering and spring's glory each have their own time.
From a shared planting, flowers bloom in red and white;
On the same root, a tree has branches dead and alive.
Grief and joy are but the differences of human feeling;

Yet I laugh at Zhuangzi, who failed to grasp this truth,
And labored with words to arrange all things as equal.
