我漫步行走，觀察著我的園圃，
事物的道理在這裡可以剖析得極其細緻。
日日夜夜都有新的花朵綻放，
年復一年，老樹長得高大。
努力耕種又能獲得什麼呢？
用甕澆水也不算辛勞。
天地間不過是一樽酒，
而你們這些蜾蠃的幼蟲（螟蛉），在我看來微不足道。

Step by step I stroll around my garden plot,
Where nature's laws in finest detail can be sought.
Day and night new blossoms burst in bloom,
Through spring and fall old trees tower in the gloom.
What gain from toiling hard with plough?
Pot watering is no labor anyhow.

And you, greenfly larvae, are beneath my line.
