在水上住宿，船身頻頻傾斜搖晃，
徒步行走，路途又險峻艱難。
行船危險，正經過神女峽，
馬匹瘦弱，跋涉在鬼門關。
照徹夜晚的是燒畲田壟的火光，
沿著雲霧開墾的是笮地的山巒。
這一切催生了滿頭白髮，
更不必說那鬢角早已斑斑。

On water I lodge, the boat oft tilts aside,
On foot I trek, the path perilous and steep.
The boat risks the Goddess Gorge's treacherous tide,
The lean horse treads the Ghost Gate Pass, dread and deep.
Night-fires blaze on slash-and-burn ridges, red and bright,
Cloud-wrapped peaks where the Qiong folk till fields on high.
Hastening the arrival of my hair's snow-white,
Speak no more of the mere speckling of my dye.
