Sorrowful to see the lonely town with troops like steeds in rows,
Mountain walking, light as if escaping worldly woes.
By the pool, thinking of phoenix—all such thoughts are vain;
Leaning on the rail, watching fish—the Way seems more plain.
Laughing, I drink rivers to quench my thirst for wine,
Watching the Three Gorges pour forth a verse divine.
Life's true joy lies in cups and songs we sing,
The world's ups and downs are not worth discussing.
