被貶官職只得退居林泉幽靜之處，
卻也有彎曲脊背的（蛇）暗中為仇。
肆意施毒不知分辨彼此是非，
來生哪能理解《春秋》的微言大義？
我觸犯了龍的逆鱗，龍卻沒有發怒，
誰知這蠢蠢之物竟敢擋在路上。
若要我在迷陽草（喻荊棘）中行走不作難，
只怕壽光（或指公正之神/史官）會彈劾你，使你離去。

Yet there are crooked spines lurking as foes.
Releasing poison, they know not right from wrong,
In later lives, how will they understand the subtleties of Spring and Autumn?

If you want me to avoid thorns without difficulty,
