眼中卻見到這霜下挺立的英傑。
南窗前有八九株菊花粲然生輝，
淡白與深黃，顏色各不相同。
自笑自己不合時宜，難以獨立於世；
此時恰是重陽節過去一個月。
再三叮囑少女不要將它們摘盡，
留著陪伴梅花，一同傲視冰雪。

Above the Chu lakes, autumn deepens, all flowers fade away;
Before my eyes, this noble one stands proud beneath the frost's sway.
By the south window, eight or nine plants gleam in bright array,
In pale white and deep yellow, their hues distinct and gay.
I laugh at myself, out of season, hard to stand alone;
It happens to be just a month past the Double Ninth Day known.
I urge the young maiden: do not pluck them to the core,
Let them stay with plum blossoms, defying ice and snow evermore.
