儒官少公事,閒坐如家居。
閉戶聽風雨,重讀架上書。
豈無借書瓻,小酌勿用沽。

溪童把釣竿,時得徑寸魚。
採薇拾橡栗,視此已有餘。
懷哉天地恩,不棄無用儒。
舍此將何之,狂士多迷途。
終不如歸田,一蓑溪上鋤。

園丁送來園中鮮美的蔬菜。
溪邊的孩童拿著釣竿,
時常能釣得寸把長的小魚。
採摘薇菜,拾取橡栗,
看看這些,我的生活已算富足有餘。
感懷啊,天地之恩德,
不曾拋棄我這無用的儒生。
捨棄這般生活,又將去往何處?
狂放的士人大多迷失路途。
終究不如歸隱田園,
披一件蓑衣,在溪邊鋤地。
A minor post brings little official business,
At leisure I sit as if at home.
I close the door and listen to wind and rain,
And read again the books upon my shelf.
Is there no wine jar to borrow from?
A modest drink needs no purchase from the town.
Is there no plate of simple greens?
The gardener brings fine vegetables from the plot.
The stream boy holds his fishing rod,
And sometimes catches a tiny fish.
Gathering ferns and picking acorns—
Compared to this, my life already has surplus.
Ah, profound is heaven and earth's grace,
Not abandoning a useless scholar.
If I leave this, where else shall I go?
Wild scholars often lose their way.
In the end, nothing beats returning to the fields,
In a straw cloak, hoeing by the stream.
