睡夢中聽到杜鵑鳥的啼鳴，
在燈下驚醒呼喊，馬兒也跟著嘶叫。
夜霧依舊籠罩著遠近的山巒，
坐在轎子裡才勉強分辨出道路的高低起伏。
雞鳴狗吠在遠處相互呼應，
野草和幽靜的花兒自然地錯落生長。
等到晨光驅散陰霾，天色放晴，
不知道路上有多少行人迷失了方向。

In dreams I heard the cuckoo's cry,
Beneath the lamp, startled, I call, my horse also neighs.
The lingering fog still veils the mountains, near and far,
Only in the sedan chair can I discern the road's rise and fall.
Cocks crow and dogs bark, echoing from afar,
Wild grasses and quiet flowers grow in disarray.
When morning light breaks through the clearing sky,
I wonder how many travelers have lost their way.
