By chance, with fellow townsmen, we collated verses old and new;
Thus, peace and safety came to me, arriving at Langdian's view.
My heart, untouched by worldly trends, stays clear as water, pure and true;
My hair, from worrying for the state, turns whiter than the cotton's hue.
For half a life, admiring scenes from afar, a thousand miles in vain;
A single letter, with its warmth and chill, has wasted two full years again.
When shall I, leaning on a cane, follow this elder, free from pain,
To autumn cliffs, with chrysanthemums, and offer ice-cold springs as gain?
