乃知舊物是筌蹄，薰染皇墳歸繭紙。
百篇因之奏帝傍，帝賚文美承恩光。
歸來築堂標古雅，家學始末示不忘。
邇來相傳貴珠玉，或侈金屏誇綉縟。
心遊目視溺豪華，繼發一言流近俗。

端溪硯已被埋沒，焦尾琴也已不存；
但書房的陳設依然崇尚奢侈。
古人的風骨與雅志未能養成；
從此，詩詞文章墮入雕琢浮靡。
唯有仙岩的那位名士與衆不同；
家中藏有琴與硯，都是世代相傳。
熨焦紋與蛇斷紋左右相對；
它們經受彈奏，也供研磨之用。
耳中的餘音，筆端的墨韻，承載千年的意蘊；
字跡...挽回淳樸的韻味。
於是明白舊物只是達到目的的媒介；
浸潤於上古典籍，終歸於繭紙之上。
百篇詩作因此得以呈奏於帝王身旁；
帝王賞賜文采之美，承沐恩光。
歸來後修建廳堂，題名'古雅'；
昭示家學的源流，以示不忘。
近來世人相傳珍愛珠玉；
或炫耀金屏與華麗的繡褥。
心神遊盪，目光所及沉溺於奢華；
繼之而發的言論也流於近世的俗氣。
可嘆我獨特的愛好只在於古文；
敬重這堂名如同敬重君子。
何時能登堂一同賞玩？
這古雅之意，期盼與你共同分享。

Yet the study's adornments still indulge in luxury.
Ancient ethos and refined will are not nurtured;
Henceforth, literary compositions sink into ornate decay.
The renowned scholar of Xianyan stands alone, not so;
His house possesses a zither and inkstone, both passed down through ages.
The smoothed scorch and snake-break patterns lie left and right;
They endure plucking and serve for grinding ink.
The resonance in the ear, the ink's aura, a legacy of a thousand years;
The characters... retrieve the flavor of pristine simplicity.
Then I know old objects are but traps and snares;
Steeped in royal classics, they return to silken paper.
A hundred poems, through them, are presented by the Emperor's side;
The Emperor rewards literary beauty, bestowing grace and light.
Returning, he builds a hall, marking it 'Ancient Elegance';
Showing the beginning and end of family learning, never to forget.
Lately, it's said pearls and jade are prized;
Or lavish golden screens boast embroidered splendor.
The heart wanders, eyes gaze, drowning in opulence;
To continue with a single word flows into recent vulgarity.
Alas, my solitary fondness is only for ancient writings;
I revere this hall's name as I revere a lord.
When shall I ascend the hall to fondly examine them together?
The sentiment of ancient elegance I hope to share with you, equally.
