瓦罐里有聲響,布袋卻未裝滿;
人生七十歲,如今已過一半;
The jar makes a sound, yet the sack is not full;
Swallowing breath is not as good as tightening the belt.
Seventy years of life, now half is already gone;
With no full meal in sight, how can one bear this?
If lords and nobles had been like this in their youth,
Their servants would eat from the trough to last the long night.
The descendants of those who once ate chaff and husks,
Now live neighborless, with no monk, but a well at home.
