人老了，世態人情也變得淡薄；
春意已深，花開的意趣也顯得微弱。
天氣的溫暖與寒冷，南方和北方各不相同；
風俗習慣，古代和現代也互相違背。
面對具體的事情，本沒有絕對的相同或相異；
作為旁觀者，卻總能看出是非對錯。
只吃蔬菜，人就會像這樣清瘦；
吃飽了肉食，也未必就需要長胖。

When one grows old, the warmth of human ties grows thin;
In the depth of spring, the flowers' will to bloom is faint.
The warmth and chill differ between the south and north;
Customs and manners diverge across ancient and modern times.
Facing events, there is no absolute sameness or difference;
As an onlooker, one perceives right and wrong.
Eating only vegetables, one becomes as lean as this;
Being sated with meat, one need not grow fat.
