陶淵明昔日懷抱道義，
卻因貧困在此地出仕。
他幡然醒悟，辭官而去，
怎肯受一官半職的束縛。
我觀覽先賢的憂思，
那慷慨情懷留存於文集。
豈同那些孤陋淺薄之人，
只知豔羨原野與低地。
遭逢時世便隱退肥遁，
這道理本就可堅持。
唯有他迴歸田園廬舍，
可嘆我還未能企及。

Yet took office here for poverty's sway.
He shook it off and resigned with grace,
Refusing to be bound by official lace.
I see the elder's deep concern,
His fervent spirit in the works that burn.
Not like those shallow, solitary souls,
Who yearn for fields and hills with petty goals.
When times allowed, he chose retreat—
This principle he held, both firm and sweet.
Alone he returned to his cottage and field,
Alas, such a life I have yet to wield.
