瞥見積塵的硯台忽然結起了冰；
試著走出稀疏的院門，積雪已與地面齊平。
棲息的鳥兒在寒冷的斗拱上喧鬧爭搶；
傍晚的雄雞在凍住的門軸旁發出微弱的鳴叫。
風中雪花半凝結，乾燥卻顯得沉重；
雲朵般的樹葉初現黃色，天色昏暗尚未放晴。
寫完字後擁著被子，全然無法入睡；
漫漫長夜裡，只聽見雪粒灑落窗欞的明亮聲響。

A glance at the dusty inkstone finds ice suddenly formed;
Stepping out the wicker gate, I see the snow has leveled the ground.
Perching birds squabble noisily on the cold rafters;
Evening cocks crow faintly by the frozen door-pivot.
Wind-blown flakes half-cling, dry yet heavy;
Cloud-like leaves first turn yellow, dark and not yet clearing.
Done with writing, I hug the quilt, sleepless;
Through the long night, I only hear the bright pattering on the window.
