Suddenly I get two robust songs, strong and deep,
Leaning on whirling wind, sprinkling urgency—to whom to speak?
Alas, Gong and Luo are now Min and Zhe.
When shall we get drunk at Yang Xiong's abode?
I ask, avoiding men, avoiding lands—how can it be, as Chu's carriages come close?
Seeing virtue, then singing ‘Phoenix' and going away,
A thousand fathoms high, soaring glory hard to follow.
My matching lines, I fear, will run mad and rash.
Snapping all mume blooms, grieving the year's end,
With scattered salt, rising catkins—talent judged as poor.
