新竹刚刚脱去笋壳，
带着寒意的颜色已然青翠葱茏。
竹身柔嫩，仿佛凝结着一层白粉；
竹叶萧萧，渐渐能引来风声。
枝叶扶疏，多处透下日光，
稀疏零落，还未长成茂密的竹丛。
唯有那一节节环绕的竹节，
无论大小，都同样坚贞不屈。

The new bamboo just shed its sheath,
Yet its chilly hue is already verdant.
Softly, it seems to gather a powdery bloom;
Soughing, it gradually draws the wind.
Sparse and spreading, it lets much sunlight through,
Still sparse, not yet grown into a thicket.
Only its jointed segments, round and firm,
Hold the same steadfastness, whether large or small.
