Unlike common flowers, it's not loved by human race.
Transplanted by the peacock rail, it's planted there.
Plucked to adorn the phoenix hairpin, beyond compare.
What peony vies with it in splendor and in hue?
Only the tree peony stands as its rival true.
If she were a maiden to wed the east wind's breath,
None but the oriole could match her, save in death.
