那灵龟啊，潜藏在平坦的小洲。

出游在芬芳的莲花间，归来背负着神蓍草。
吐故纳新，还有什么忧虑和思虑？
显赫的王朝聚会，巍峨的天府朝廷，是谋略所依凭，吉凶所汇聚之处。
你有前世的鉴戒，你已是我的将领；你有美好的见识，你已是我的辅佐。
于是布下长网，沉下密罗，在池沼，在小洲，在江水，在支流。
既被剔剥，又被钻灼，姑且取来供人使用，哪里知道它的其他价值。
唉，灵龟啊，谁说你是明智的？根本（的才智）导致了末路（的丧失），性命因才华而绝灭。
山中的树木招来砍伐，膏油的火光自我熄灭，我冒昧地陈述明白的言辞，来告诫后来的子孙。

O sacred tortoise, lurking in the level marsh.
Your shell bears the Eight Trigrams, your hue matches the four seasons.
You roam among fragrant lotuses, return bearing divine yarrow.
Exhaling the old, inhaling the new, what worries, what thoughts?
Grand are the royal assemblies, lofty the heavenly court, source of plans, gathering of fortune and doom.
You possess foresight, you are my general; you have wise counsel, you are my aid.
Thus they cast long nets, sink dense snares, in ponds, in islets, in rivers, in streams.
Carved and stripped, drilled and scorched, taken for mere utility, who knows its other worth?
Alas, sacred tortoise, who called you wise? Your root brought your end, your talent doomed your fate.
The mountain tree invites the axe, the fat flame consumes itself; I dare state this clearly, to warn future generations.
