游遍七十诸侯国,
却不让他遇到一位明君。
每国如能遇一次,
单车也不算空转车轮。
实因那至高的教化之力,
是为国而非为己。
礼乐未能推行足够,
在陈国遭遇困厄徘徊。
礼乐如今已有余裕,
冠冕理当加于圣人。
可悲啊关于绝粮的议论,
千年来一直误传纷纷。
Heaven propelled Confucius of Lu,
To travel around, spreading the ancient texts.
He roamed through seventy states,
Yet was not permitted to meet a single worthy lord.
Meeting one lord per state,
His single cart's wheels did not turn in vain.
Truly, due to the power of supreme transformation,
He acted for the state, not for himself.
Ritual and music were not fully implemented,
Detained and distressed in Chen.
Ritual and music now exist in abundance,
The imperial crown should belong to a sage.
Alas, the debate about his running out of grain,
For a thousand years has been mistakenly discussed.
