我本是世家深闺之女，
下嫁祝家恪守妇道。
你父亲从军征战平息，
命我避难来到江郎之地。
在下抚育双儿时时训导，
在上侍奉九十高龄的老祖。
念你生父丧命在原野，
生死茫茫再难相见。
人生立志应当趁早，
你应勤读经史抓住时光。
莫辜负我亲身操持炊汲的辛劳，
你父亲和祖父都在各自饮泣。

I, born of noble house, deep in palace bred,
Married down to the Zhu family, a wife's path I tread.
Your father joined the army, war to cease,
Sent me to seek refuge with Jianglang for peace.
Below, I raise two sons with constant discipline's hand,
Above, I serve the old ancestor, ninety years in the land.
Thinking of your birth father lost in distant plain,
Life and death vast and vague, never to meet again.
In life, ambition should be set early and right,
You must diligently study classics day and night.
Do not辜负 my toil, drawing water and cooking fare,
Your father and grandfather each weep in despair.
