佳期已至却不见心上人，
天上牛女正欢喜地迎接新秋。
（想她）玉佩沾湿了清新的夜露，
香车正渡过浅浅的银河。
我们被这一水之隔分离东西，
绵延不绝的是两年的离愁。
别处自有女子们穿针乞巧的场所，
只有微明的月光映照着我的小楼。

On this fine occasion, the person is not seen,
While up in heaven they rejoice in the new autumn.
Jade pendants moistened by fresh dew,
Fragrant carriages cross the shallow stream.
East and west are separated by a river,
Stretching far apart are two years of sorrow.
Elsewhere there is a place for threading needles,
Where faint moonlight shines upon the tower.
