水獭捕获一条好鱼，
自以为是上天怜悯。
先行祭祀不敢食用，
捧着鱼鳞仰望苍天。
有人站立在寒沙之上，
心思专注，眼神忧虑。
渔翁认为它是妖怪，
举起土块投向它的咽喉。
呼喊儿子穿起鱼儿回家，
将水獭一同烹煮煎炸。
关关鸣叫的黄金鹗鸟，
巨大翅膀摇动江上烟雾。
向下看见满寻的大鱼，
投身劈开浩瀚的波涛。
抓取隐藏鳞片的鱼离去，
在山林巅峰哺育幼鸟。
鸱鸮乌鸦想伺机而动，
远远聒噪却不敢上前。
长久居于青云之路，
弹弓射击也无从下手。
哪里没有江湖呢？
哪片水没有鲔鱼鳣鱼？
上天之意并非主宰宰割，
菲薄的祭祀只是徒然虔诚。
空余知晓礼仪的重要，

An otter catches a fine fish,
Believing Heaven pities him.
He dares not eat before offering sacrifice,
Holding the scales, he gazes at the azure sky.
A man stands on the cold sand,
His heart focused, eyes anxious.
The old fisherman thinks it's a monster,
Lifts a clod and throws it at its throat.
Calls his son to string the fish and return,
To cook them together with the otter.
Guan-guan cry the golden ospreys,
Their great wings stir the river mist.
They spy fish many fathoms long below,
Plunge down to cleave the vast waves.
Seizing, they vanish with hidden scales,
To feed their young atop the forested peaks.
Kites and crows wait for a chance,
Distant caws, none dare approach.
Long dwelling on the path of high clouds,
No way exists to shoot them down.
What land lacks rivers and lakes?
What waters lack sturgeon and bream?
Heaven's will does not dictate slaughter,
Vain are these humble, devout sacrifices.
Only the knowledge of ritual's weight remains,
Recorded in the chapters of Yan.
