In the market there's a firewood mountain,
Yet this hut has no morning smoke.
At the well's bottom lies sweet spring water,
But the cooking pot remains empty.
I long to see the bright sun,
But snow comes to block the blue sky.
Sitting, I hear the west bed's zither,
Its two or three strings frozen and snapped.
When hungry, do not go to others' doors—
So spoke the ancients in plain words.
