Speech-penetration and mind-penetration,
Like the sun in empty sky.
Only the Sudden Teaching is transmitted,
To emerge and break wrong schools.
The teaching itself has no sudden or gradual,
But delusion and awakening differ in speed.
If learning the Sudden Teaching,
Fools cannot grasp it fully.
Explanations may be myriad,
Union and separation return to One.
In the dark house of afflictions,
Always let the sun of wisdom rise.
Wrong comes because of afflictions,
Right comes and afflictions cease.
Both wrong and right are discarded,
Purity reaches the remainderless.
Bodhi is originally pure,
Raising a thought is already false.
The pure nature is within the false,
Just correct and remove the three hindrances.
If cultivating the Way in the world,
Nothing at all is a hindrance.
Constantly see your own faults,
That is commensurate with the Way.
All phenomena have their own Way,
Leaving the Way to seek another is wrong.
Seeking the Way, you won't see the Way,
In the end you trouble yourself.
If you wish to see the true Way,
Right conduct is the Way.
If you yourself lack a right mind,
Walking in darkness, you won't see the Way.
A true cultivator of the Way
Does not see the faults of the world.
If you see the world's wrongs,
Your own wrong is then the deviation.
Others' wrong is not my sin,
My own wrong is my sin.
Just rid yourself of the fault-finding mind,
Shatter afflictions to pieces.
If you wish to transform fools,
You must have skillful means.
Do not let them have doubts,
Then Bodhi will appear.
The Dharma is originally in the world,
Within the world, transcending the world.
Do not leave the world
To seek transcendence outside.
Wrong views are the world,
Right views transcend the world.
Both wrong and right are struck away,
The nature of Bodhi appears clearly.
This is simply the Sudden Teaching,
Also called the Mahayana.
Deluded, one passes countless eons;
Awakened, it's in an instant.
