偶坐藤树下，暮春下旬间。

ǒu zuò téng shù xià， mù chūn xià xún jiān。

偶然坐在藤树之下，

时值暮春三月下旬。

藤荫已经可以遮蔽，

落花还漫漫飘飞。

新叶勤勉生长，渐渐肥大，

晚开的花朵珑珑作响，已经干枯。

青天高高，寥廓无边，

两只蝴蝶上下翻飞。

时节本该如此，

心中怀悲却无缘无故。

By chance I sit beneath the wisteria tree,

In the last ten days of late spring.

The wisteria shade already offers shelter,

Falling petals still drift endlessly.

Lush and large, the new leaves grow;

Glistening and dry, the late blossoms cling.

The blue sky stretches high and vast,

Two butterflies flutter and dance.

The season is just as it should be,

Yet sorrow rises in my heart without cause.
