半死半生还聚集在一起。
大鱼受伤损都垂着头，
在泥沙中倔强有时立起。
东津观鱼已经再次前来，
主人停止切鱼又斟满酒杯。
日暮时分蛟龙改换洞穴，
山根处的鳣鲔随云雷而去。
干戈战争争斗未曾停止，
凤凰麒麟又在哪里呢？
我们这些人为何放纵此种欢乐，
暴殄天物是圣人所哀痛的。

At dawn, fish gather in the grey river's flow,
Nets set, lines hauled, myriad fish in panic go.
The skilled steer boats swift as the wind's own race,
Thrust through waves, raising forks, they find their place.
Small fish slip through, too many to recall,
Half-dead, half-alive, still huddled, one and all.
Big fish, wounded and hurt, all hang their head,
Stubborn in mud and sand, sometimes upright instead.
To East Ford to watch fish, I've come once more,
The host ends slicing fish, refills cups to pour.
At dusk, flood-dragons change their lair and den,
Sturgeons at mountain's root follow cloud and thunder then.
Spears, shields, warfare and strife have not ceased,
Where now are phoenix and unicorn, those blessed beast?
Why do we, my kind, indulge in such delight,
Wasting nature's bounty, a sorrow in sage's sight?
