Cassia branches, our families pluck together;
The Cock Tree post is passed down through generations.
I shamefully serve beneath the Phoenix Terrace,
Still watching the linked shadows of wild geese.
At night, in leisure, I pace beneath the moon;
As the water-clock runs dry, I prepare to court the dawn.
Knowing I'm close to the vermilion steps,
The enlightened king permits recommending the worthy.
