岭南海边的物产也懂得君臣之分，
黑鲤鱼朝向北方葵花向着夕阳。
岭南海边的物产也懂得慈爱仁德，
水獭祭祀鱼鸦鸟反哺双亲。
吴起师从曾子李斯师从荀子，
却欺瞒君主残害百姓父母丧而不奔。
享受着俸禄养育却忘掉了道义恩情，
还不如司晨守门的鸡犬。

The creatures of the southern lands know ruler and subject,
The black carp faces north, the sunflower turns to the setting sun.
The creatures of the southern lands know kindness and benevolence,
The otter offers fish in sacrifice, the crow feeds its parents.
Wu Qi studied with Zengzi, Si studied with Xunzi,
Yet they deceived their lords, harmed the people, and did not mourn properly.
Nourished by official salary, they grew to forget righteousness and grace,
They are not even as good as the rooster and dog that guard the gate at dawn.
