进山必须打算住宿，
不住宿，一切奔波都只是徒劳。
泉水的脉络，寻找后还能发现；
兰花的香气，去嗅时却已闻不到。
杉树长高了，才能看出它的挺直；
山石形态怪异，但并不显得粗陋。
如果到了三潭的顶峰，
归来的路途会更加迂回曲折。

To stay in the mountains, one must plan to lodge overnight;
Not staying, all efforts are but trivial and vain.
The spring's vein, sought, is found again;
The orchid's fragrance, sniffed, seems to have flown.
Only when the fir grows tall does its straightness show;
Stones, though strange, are not coarse in their form.
If one reaches the summit of Three Ponds,
The way back will be even more winding and long.
