The northern guest delights in galloping, / His thighs show no sign of growing fat.
A light breeze enters the horse's hooves, / In a flash, ten thousand miles lie flat.
At dawn, he departs from Chang'an's capital, / By dusk, he reaches the city where surrender was accepted.
From the Yin Mountains, ghostly wails are heard, / The campaigner marches day and night.
Though yellow dust may stain his clothes, / The purple hills and emerald hues can dazzle the eye.
A man's travels through this life, / His lofty aspirations are often startled.
Is Jing-Chu not a fine land? / But boats and oars are not to my liking.
Do not boast of the land of fish and rice, / Nor cling to the clear misty waves.
Fortunate to have shed the writing brush, / I listen sidelong to the sword singing in its case.
