王郎你就像一匹来自巴地的骏马，迅捷而自由，
你的心志高远，跨越丘陵与都城，从未停歇。
昔日你曾向朝廷呈上奏章，心意恳切，
发誓绝不让北方的敌人饮马长江之水。
如今你寄来长信，用小字写就诗篇赠我，
我祝愿你，无论困顿还是显达，自有其到来的时机。
纵然清贫，也不妨碍你享受着书立说的乐趣，
直到年老，也切莫兴起像屈原那样沉江的悲慨。

Young Wang, a spirited steed from the land of Ba, swift and free,
Your heart soars high, leaping over mounds and cities, never to be tamed.
Once you sent a memorial to the heavenly gate, sincere and bold,
Vowing never to let the northern foe drink from our southern streams.
Now you send me a long letter, with verses penned in fine, small script,
I pray that fortune, be it humble or grand, will find you in its own time.
Even in poverty, the joy of writing profound works shall not be hindered,
And in old age, may you never know the sorrow of exile by the Xiang's flow.
