却暑追随水上亭，东郊乘晓戴残星。

què shǔ zhuī suí shuǐ shàng tíng， dōng jiāo chéng xiǎo dài cán xīng。

白话文翻译

为避暑热，我沿着水流来到江边的亭子，

在东郊，趁着拂晓，头顶着残存的星斗出行。

残余的歌声和呜咽的管乐从幽静的水边传来，

淡淡的雾气与稀疏的烟霭渗入了画舫之中。

兴致勃发，仿佛从江湖驰骋至京城的宫阙；

情感深挚，对着原野湿地吟咏传递文书的飞骑。

故乡的溪流，哪一天才能回去垂钓呢？

天边遥远的山峦，每一寸都染上了青翠。

To escape the heat, I follow the stream to the waterside pavilion,

At the eastern outskirts, I ride at dawn under fading stars.

Faint songs and choked pipes drift from the secluded shore,

Thin mist and scattered smoke seep into the painted boat.

My spirit soars, racing from rivers and lakes to the distant capital;

My heart clings to the plains and marshes, singing of swift messengers.

When shall I return to the old stream and cast my fishing line?

At the sky's edge, the far-off hills are tinged with every shade of green.
