太阳高悬，我却常掩着门扉。
纵然能收取风中飘飞的柳絮，
也难以温暖我这客居之人的衣衫。
新生的竹笋大多显得瘦弱，
残存枝梢上的花儿却最为丰茂。
那对多情的燕子，
还能认出旧日的巢穴，飞回安居。

In the fourth month, the chill still lingers on;
Though sun is high, I often close the door.
Even if I gather catkins from the breeze,
They cannot warm the robe I wear, a guest.
The tender bamboo shoots are mostly thin;
The fading twigs bear flowers at their best.
A pair of swallows, full of tender love,
Can still find out their former nest and rest.
